MLB Baseball Futures - World Series Wagering

The Boston Red Sox and New York Mets are still the early favorites to win this season's World Series as we approach the All-Star Game, being held this year in San Francisco. But the two clubs hailing from Los Angeles could have a say in the matter by the time the postseason rolls around.

The Red Sox are listed at +345 at BetCRIS to lift the World Series trophy despite dropping two of three games from their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, at home last weekend. The Red Sox are still running away with their division, and should cruise to the American League East title barring any substantial injuries.

The Mets also lost two of three games at home this weekend, to Arizona, but come in behind the Red Sox at +370. The Mets have the bats in their lineup to carry them through to the World Series, and their veteran pitching staff is appearing to hold up for now.

The Angels and Dodgers are set at +825 and +950, respectively, and neither team shows any sign of slowing down. An Angels-Dodgers World Series would be a major coup for the city of Los Angeles, and it would be a fantastic series for baseball fans. The Dodgers, however, face a stiff test from the Padres (+950) and the Diamondbacks (+1600), who are perhaps the surprise of the season so far. Baseball's other surprise team, the Brewers, are rated at +950. Whether the young Milwaukee team can continue their torrid pace throughout the lengthy season will be interesting to watch.
