MLB Baseball Futures - AL Champion

The New York Yankees are no strangers to being called favorites, and this season is no exception, with oddsmakers putting their faith with the storied Bronx Bombers.

The Yankees are listed at 9/5 to represent the American League at the World Series, despite the losses of Randy Johnson and Gary Sheffield, and the possible exit of Alex Rodriguez. New York still has much talent as anyone in baseball, and Derek Jeter will find a way to lead this team. Next are Boston, Chicago, and defending AL champion Detroit at 5/1. This could be one of the more interesting races in the major leagues, with all three teams possessing a wealth of talent. Detroit's acquisition of Sheffield could put them in the driver's seat out of this group.

The Angels and Blue Jays are next at 6/1 and 7/1, respectively, and the Angels need to find help for Vladimir Guerrero, who cannot do it on his own. The Blue Jays signed Frank Thomas from Oakland, and re-signed Vernon Wells to a long-term contract, giving them one of the most stacked lineups in Major League Baseball. If A.J. Burnett can live up to his promise as a No. 2 starter behind ace Roy Halladay, the Blue Jays will scare teams in the stretch run.
